GCI Group is a public relations firm owned by Grey Global Group which is in turn part of WPP. GCI Group sister company APCO Worldwide was part of the group until it was announced that Grey would divest itself of its 70% holding in late 2003. In September 2004 'Apco and Grey Global Group Inc. announced this week that Apco bought itself back from Grey, which itself is being bought by the mammoth WPP Group. Apco, founded in 1984 as a subsidiary of the D.C. law firm Arnold & Porter, was purchased by Grey, a major advertising company, 13 years ago'[1]
