'David Carter was made National Schools Commissioner in the UK Department for Education on 1 February 2016.[1]

The National Schools Commissioner oversees 8 Regional Schools Commissioners, which in turn put pressure on schools to become academies, encourage school sponsors and oversee standards in academy schools and school chains.
