Career
Canning was a British diplomat for four decades, 14 of which were in Asia.
In September it was announced he was to be a senior adviser in Asia for Bell Pottinger. On the appointment Piers Pottinger, Chairman of Bell Pottinger, Asia, said Canning “will be an invaluable asset for clients looking to develop within Asia and access its markets” and Canning said he was looking forward to "advising clients on how to develop the multitude of opportunities that exist in the region”.[1]
