The Organización Regional Interamericana de Trabajadores (ORIT) is an inter-American labour federation formed in Mexico City in 1951. The organisation was closely linked to the anti-communist wing of the international labour movement at the time. At the inaugural meeting, the United States delegation was led by George Meany of the American Federation of Labor. The International Confederation of Free Trade Unions was represented by Vincent Tewson of the British Trade Union Congress. After the formation of the International Trade Union Confederation ORIT was replaced by the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (TUCA).[1]
