John Coyle was a well-known City PR man and former journalist.
Broad Street Associates
Coyle joined forces with Brian Basham, founder of the PR firm Broad Street Group in 1976 and worked with him until 1988. According to PR Week:
- together they built Broad Street into a pounds 15 million public company with a reputation for high-profile and aggressive PR, together with an equally high-octane lifestyle. [1]
Another account described him as:
- Johnny was a colossus who bestrode City PR in the 1980s. He built Broad Street Associates with Brian Basham and between them brought a new meaning to the contested takeover bids of that boom era. Johnny started half-a-dozen other PR companies, married and divorced many times, made two fortunes and lost them both, was declared bankrupt and probably made as many enemies as he did friends.Coyle a tough player in corporate world, Profile Extra, CIPR web journal Publication Date : 30 June 2006 .
