Notes towards a chronology of the modern history of covert action with particular reference to the role of the Lovestoneite movement.

December

  • President Ronald Reagan authorizes a congressionally-funded programme of covert aid to the Nicaraguan Contras. Duane Clarridge will be transferred from Rome to run the operation as head of the CIA's Latin-American division.[1]
