David Durant
David Durant is a UK politician and was formerly the National Secretary of the National Liberal Party (NLP) - The Third Way.[1] Durant is currently serving as Councillor for the Rainham & Wennington Ward of Havering London Borough, representing the Independent Resident's Group.[2]
Solidarity - The Union for British Workers
In November 2007 Durant was elected to the Solidarity Executive for a period of five years.[3] Solidarity, a self-described "nationalist union"[4] has close links to far right organisations such as the BNP and Civil Liberty. The BNP openly endorse Solidarity; a link to the Solidarity website, one of only four on the links page, is provided on the BNP website.[5]
Electoral History
In the 2005 General Election Durant stood for Third Way in the Upminster constituency and polled 78 votes or 0.2% of of the overall vote.[6]
In the 2009 St Andrew's Ward by-election of Havering London Borough, Durant stood as a National Liberal Party candidate and polled 291 votes or 6.6% of the overall vote.[7]
In May 2010 David Durant stood as a candidate for the Independent Resident's Group and was elected to a borough council seat in Rainham & Wennington in Havering London Borough.[8]
