Piet Vanthemsche is a member of the management board of the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA).

EFSA has been criticised because its scientific assessments of new GM crops and pesticides (via scientific advisory panels) rely almost exclusively on corporate research data.[1]

Vanthemsche has declared that he holds an executive position in the Agri Investment Fund, which has shares in 19 companies ranging from meat processing to real estate.[2] One of these companies, Aveve N.V., sells GM animal feed, according to Greenpeace.[3]
