Eugeniusz Smolar
Eugeniusz Smolar (born 31 December 1945) is a Polish journalist who worked for the BBC for over 20 years.
He studied economics at the University of Warsaw but had to interrupt his studies because of his involvement in the demonstrations of March 1968, protesting against the invasion of troops and the Warsaw Pact of Czechoslovakia in August 1968. [1]. In 1970 he emigrated to Sweden and later graduated from the Department of Sociology, University of Uppsala. In 1975 he began working as a journalist with the Polish Section of the BBC, and in 1982 became deputy director of the section, then director in 1988. He worked for the BBC until 1997.
In 1997 he initiated the creation of Inforadio with the BBC and commercial partners (currently Tokfm). In October 2005 he was president of the Center for International Relations [2].
