Lord Richard Cecil was a British journalist.

Cecil was killed in 1978 while filming in Rhodesia. According to the Washington Post, he was armed at the time.

The issue of bearing arms came to the fore last spring when a British television reporter-photographer, Richard Cecil, was killed with a rifle in his hand while on an operation with a small elite Rhodesian army unit.
Cecil, the scion of a well known Rhodesian colonial family, may have been doing more than just toting his rifle, according to some reports. But even the most detached correspondents are facing the question because the entire country has now became a battlefield.[1]
