	Law graduate of the faculty of law and economics of the Aristotles University of Thessaloniki (1978). Doctorate in law at the University of Tübingen (1981). Researcher at the International and European Financial Law Centre (1982-1989). Member of teaching and research staff at the legal faculty of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1988-2001). Professor of international and European studies at the University of Piraeus (from 2001). Jean Monnet European Chair (2002). Deputy Rector of the University of Piraeus (2002-2004).

Member of the Greek Parliament for Imathia (New Democracy) (1989-1996). Deputy Minister for National Economy (1990) and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs (1990-1993).
