Background
Nucleus is a joint training venture between the ENERGUS Academy at Lillyhall, Cumbria, and GEN II.
- The formation of Nucleus provides both ENERGUS and GEN II with the direction and capability for new business growth, especially in the emerging nuclear new build, advanced renewable energy and advanced manufacturing markets.
- The arrival of Nucleus co-incides with both the 10th anniversary of the establishment of GEN II by partner companies Sellafield Ltd, AMEC, Corus, Iggesund Paperboard and Innovia Films, and the 1st anniversary of the opening of the ENERGUS Academy in 2009.
- ENERGUS and GEN II set up Nucleus to maximise the opportunities of collaboration in new opportunities whilst maintaining their existing strong customer links.
- ENERGUS, with its partners, University of Cumbria, Nuclear Management Partners and the National Skills Academy for Nuclear, plays a pivotal role as one of the key strategic investments made by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in support of Britain’s Energy Coast TM and the associated Energy Coast Campus project.
- GEN II works with employers across Cumbria to deliver apprenticeships for hundreds of local people as well as bespoke training for over 100 businesses at sites across the region, including a £21 million, state of the art training facility.
