The Gambling Commission was set up as a result of the UK's 2005 Gambling Act it works in partnership with local authorities to regulate and licence most of the UK's gambling industry. They oversee the regulation of arcades, betting, bingo, casinos, gaming machine providers, gambling software providers lottery operators and British based remote gambling operators. It does not regulate spread betting, which is done by the Financial Services Authority or the National Lottery, this is done by the National Lottery Commission. [1]
