Department of War Studies
The War Studies Group is split into 3 strands: International Studies, Military Studies and Policy Studies.[1]
Centre for Science and Security Studies
The Centre for Science and Security Studies is part of the War Studies Group in the policy strand. According to their website,
- "Members of the Centre conduct scholarly and policy-relevant research on weapons proliferation, non-proliferation, verification and disarmament, space security and mass effect terrorism including the CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) dimension. A significant emphasis is also placed on engaging on these issues with security practitioners in governments and international organisations, and the wider dissemination of research findings through engagement with the media.
- The Centre organises conferences and runs a regular seminar series where internal and external speakers address issues related to science and security."[2]
Seminars
Counter Terrorism
- Avi Dichter: Cancelled a trip to the UK fearing arrest for war crimes, he was invited to London as a keynote speaker at a seminar on counter terrorism. The BBC report,
- "The Shin Beth agency, headed by Mr Dichter between 2000 and 2005, helped plan the assassination of Hamas military commander Saleh Shehada in July 2002.
- Nine children were killed in the raid. A one-tonne bomb was dropped on Mr Shehada's house. The dead included his wife and his three children." [3]
