Alleged or apparent misdeed
The live register carries a regulatory alert that the Commission has opened an inquiry. In December 2025 the Commission named Beis Chinuch Lebonos Limited among twelve charities added to the cashed-cheques class inquiry (after ten in May 2025 and ten in August). The inquiry followed an unannounced HMRC visit to a company in Hackney that found 105 charities had cashed cheques there worth £22 million between December 2021 and March 2023. Charities under inquiry were ordered not to issue cheques without prior Commission consent. Opening an inquiry is not a finding of guilt.[3]
Ofsted’s repeated Requires Improvement judgements on the girls’ school are regulatory education findings, separate from the Commission inquiry.

The company provides Orthodox Jewish schooling and nursery care in Hackney. Esther Spitzer is also a trustee of Paget C.I.O.. The separately registered Friends of Beis Chinuch Lebonos Trust shares the school name and sits in an earlier tranche of the same class inquiry; it is a different legal person with different trustees (Yshaya Sprung, Esther Grunfeld, Chana Lieber).
