Istvan Hiller
Dr. István Hiller (dob 7 May 1964) is a Hungarian politician and former chairman of the Hungarian Socialist Party. A co-founder of his party, Hiller was Minister of Culture under the government of Ferenc Gyurcsány from 2003 to 2005. He became Vice chairman of the party in 2003. Hiller was the Minister of Education and Culture between 2006 and 2010. He is chair of the Hungarian caucus of the Israel Allies Foundation.
During his time as minister for Education and Culture Huller visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. Whilst there he signed an agreement of cooperation between the Hungarian Education Ministry and Yad Vashem.[1]
Activities
In October 2011 Hiller attended an event sponsored by the Israel Allies Foundation and the evangelical Faith Church, Hungary. The conference concluded with a call to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and for governments to move their embassies to the city.[2]
