Middle East Report (ISSN: 0899-2851) is a magazine that provides news and perspectives about the Middle East that aren't available from mainstream news sources. The journal has therefore built up a reputation of 'for independent analysis of events and developments' within the region. [1]

The reports address a broad range of social, political and cultural issues by soliciting writings and views from authors from the Middle East. These views are often not read in the West and the magazine therefore feels that it helps to overcome any stereotypes and misconceptions that the West has of the Middle East. [1]

Graham Fuller of the Rand Corporation says that the

'Middle East Report is the single most valuable periodical I receive on Middle East affairs, offering a wealth of material unavailable elsewhere. This outstanding journal provides truly fresh, unconventional, insightful information and views that are still essential to my research even years after publication.' [1]

The journal is published four times a year and each issue is said to focus on a specific theme.

The report is particularly popular, with thousands of subscribers and a large following amongst scholars and intellectuals within the region. The journal has also reached the US and Europe with subscriptions in over 700 Universities and copies being sold in bookstores and newsstands regularly. [1]
