David Wright is the group chief executive of Porta Communications plc and the founder of Newgate Communications.

Career

Wright is the former chief executive and chairman of Incepta Group plc, December 1988 until December 2003. Whilst at Incepta, he helped found Citigate which in turn lead to PR company Citigate Dewe Rogerson.[1]

Wright is now group chief executive at Porta Communications plc, a role he has held since December 2010. In 2011, was the founder of Newgate Communications and has employed many of his former staff at Citigate.[2]

PPS Group and Newgate Communications merger

In November 2014 Porta Communications bought PPS Group for £6.2million, paid for in a combination of cash and shares in Porta Communications and merged it with Newgate Communications.

On the deal, Wright said: 'PPS has a proven track record in community engagement, coalition building and stakeholder communications which will combine well with Newgate’s corporate reputation management approach.'[3]
