Working in the US Senate for 7 years, Brog was previously the chief of staff to Senator Arlen Specter and staff director of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Brog has lived and worked in the US and Israel.[2] Although he works for an organization that has been criticized by Israeli Rabbis and Jews for allegedly aiming to convert Jews to Christianity,[3] Brog is Jewish himself[4] and the cousin of former Israeli prime minister, Ehud Barak.[4]

In 2006 Brog informed investigative journalist Max Blumenthal that the White House had convened a series of "off-the-record meetings" about Middle East policy with the leaders of CUFI: "David Brog, told me that during the meetings, CUFI representatives pressed White House officials to adopt a more confrontational posture toward Iran, refuse aid to the Palestinians and give Israel a free hand as it ramped up its military conflict with Hezbollah."[5] Brog is known for connecting members of CUFI with congress members for the specific purpose of lobbying them towards supporting causes CUFI endorses:
- The fact that sacred history is alive to evangelicals can make them powerful advocates for the modern state of Israel. Their witness extends beyond the congregations, small churches, and mega-cathedrals spread throughout the country and now reaches all the way to Washington, D.C., where Brog shows them how to put their philo-Semitism to practical use. “When they come up to meet with their congressmen or senators,” says Brog, “we share with them the details of timely legislation like the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act.” That is to say, they show them how to support it.[6]
