Scottish Conservatives Community Cohesion Task Force
Hamira Khan (formerly Hamira Sarwar) 'set up the Scottish Conservatives Community Cohesion Task Force and holds the position of Chair'.[1][2] Khan was the Westminster candidate for Glasgow East to fight the 2010 General Election [3] and sat on the advisory board of the short lived Conservative linked think tank Social Justice Scotland.
The Taskforce was cited by 'one of Scotland's leading restaurateurs and entrepreneurs' Satty Singh on the announcement he had switched his support from Labour to the Conservatives. The Herald reported:
- Mr Singh stresses his charitable connections and argues the Tory leader is the only one "looking to the charitable sector to help address chronic problems in our communities". He says he is genuinely impressed by the Conservative Party's commitment to broaden its appeal to every section of our community and is "proud" to declare his support for the Tories publicly. He said: "It is a more inclusive party thanks to the creation of the One Nation Forum and its Community Cohesion Taskforce and I look forward to playing my part in these organisations."[4]
