Scilla Elworthy founded Peace Direct in 2002. She founded and led the Oxford Research Group from 1982, and was awarded the Niwano Peace Prize in 2003.
Between 2005-7 she was an adviser to Richard Branson, Nelson Mandela and Peter Gabriel regarding the creation of ‘The Elders’. She is currently also a Councillor on the World Future Council. In 1993 she gained her Ph.D in political science at Bradford University.
