  • Earlier Chabad Sheliach: In 1988 Rabbi Shmuley Boteach was sent as the Chabad-Lubavitch shaliach (emissary) to Oxford, where, in 1989, he established the Oxford University L'Chaim Society which became the second largest ever students' society at the University. In 1994, he changed the society from a student society into an independent organization and later that year the relationship between the L'Chaim Society and Chabad was terminated. L'Chaim Society remained active until 2001.(ii)
