Patrick Hall was the Labour Party Member of Parliament for Bedford from 1997 to 2010. Hall has been reselected by the party to stand for the constituency again in the upcoming general election in 2015. [1]

This move has not been without its controversy, as following his election loss in 2010 Hall was given a payoff of £54,403, just five years after this resettlement payment he is now standing for parliament again. [1] Andy Silvester, of the Taxpayers' Alliance has commented on this, saying 'these payments were totally excessive. It makes sense to provide winding-up expenses, but nobody should expect politics to be a job for life.
