Dan Lodge is a lifetime supporter of the Labour Party, joining as an 18 year old, in 1992. Lodge worked as a former special adviser to Peter Hain in the Welsh Office, from 2009 to 2010.
Lodge is now convenor of the Welsh Fabians, a sub group of the Fabian Society. In this role he organises events such as the Fabians Cymru Fringe at Welsh Labour conference, in North Wales.
