Jim Fitzpatrick has been the Labour MP for Poplar and Limehouse since 2010. He was previously MP for Poplar and Canning Town from 1997 to 2010. He was appointed a Shadow Transport Minister in 2010.[1] he resigned from this position in August 2013, in order to vote against a Labour amendment to a Government motion on Syria in the House of Commons, stating he was "opposed to military intervention in Syria, full stop".[2]
