Douglas Jay (1907-1996), Lord Jay, was a Labour Party politician.
Jay served as Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Supply 1940-43, and Principal Assistant Secretary, Board of Trade 1943-45. He was Labour MP for Battersea North 1946-74, and for Wandsworth, Battersea North 1974-83. He served in Government as Economic Secretary to the Treasury 1947-50; Financial Secretary to the Treasury 1950-51; President of the Board of Trade 1964-67. He was a Director of Courtaulds 1967-70. He was created Baron Jay in 1987.[1]
