Geoffrey Martin was head of the National Union of Students International Affairs section before becoming President of the NUS in 1966. In 1968, he became director of the homelessness charity, Shelter. In 1974, he joined the Diplomatic Staff Commowealth Secretariat. He later headed the office of the European Commission in Northern Ireland.[1]
