thanks for letting me know. Could you pls also give the LME page a quick update re its impending (or not?) sale and the players involved. A few short paras should do it... eg this looks interesting as connects to the protecting the warehousing stuff. Plus anything else since Dan's last updating. thanks--Melissa Jones 22:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC) | thanks for letting me know. questions
HI Miriam
About FoI, I have asked David to reply to you on that as he is the expert on FoI requests.
re who's running Act on Cop, I can only find this re their website -- seems to be a govt thing purely http://www.actoncopenhagen.decc.gov.uk/en/about
at foot of page.
re who's running Road to Cop, see http://www.roadtocopenhagen.org/ and click on Sponsors and Partners at foot of page.
assume you know about http://www.spinprofiles.org/index.php/Copenhagen_2009:_Who%27s_Who as to who is sponsoring COP15, quite scary--I know you have worked on this page recently so sure you do know.
re an article, wd be fantastic if you could do one re who's running all these joints -- personally I think that the "who's running COP 15" topic is food enough but would be good if you could find out anything more. NB we need to addres that question about, does it matter that car cos, airline cos etc sponsor these things as they have been part of prob. but maybe it's good because they can also be part of solution?? what way are car and airline cos going re the fuel they depend on? do they want to prolong the oil culture?
if you do an article -- can be very plain, just who and what -- then we can publicise thru twitter, spinwatch etc.
pls do add to climate portal page whatever you like -- this is definitely the idea of spin and my role is just to make sure that dodgy stuff doesn't go in and to edit what does go in, in line with our style, grammar etc. continuous improvement is the idea...
many thanks for your great work.

re Wyn Jones
HI Miriam
http://www.spinprofiles.org/index.php?title=Wyn_Jones
i have wyn jones getting OBE in 2004 in this article http://www.nebusiness.co.uk/business-news/interviews-with-business-people/2008/08/26/defender-of-jobs-foresees-new-battle-51140-21603807/
you have 2003, not sure which is right. looked for the source you mention, Newcastle Journal, THE JOURNAL (Newcastle, UK). 'Jonny's made it a palace hat-trick', December 31, 2003
found a Gale Cengage archive source http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Jonny%27s+made+it+a+palace+hat-trick.%28News%29-a0111757170 but doesn't mention wyn jones. can u try to sort?
many thanks --Claire Robinson 13:56, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Al Federation
HI Miriam
http://www.spinprofiles.org/index.php?title=Aluminium_Federation
few little things:
1. can u give source for this
ALFED also run the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the UK Aluminium Industry.
2. if using indented block quotes (using a colon to indent block quote), don't use quote marks in addition, unless you need them for quotes within the quote, if that makes sense.
3. use colon to lead into quotes, not semicolon, and avoid using "that" before the quote, in constructions like "said that:" Just "said" is neater. eg
When he got into power in 2001, Smith appointed a biotech lobbyist as his environment secretary. Smith said:
- I thought it was a good idea at the time.
that's it! glad you are working on the Al industry.

coding names of lords etc
Hi Miriam
a quickie on doing the coding when you talk about a person other than by their real name, eg if they are a Lord or Baroness, as in
see how I've done these--it's real name first, and this will be the name of their page if they have one, and then a vertical line | , then the name they go by/are called in our article:
*Lord Davies of Coity
*Lord Brookman
*Baroness Nicol
can u now go in and do
in same way? I look up their real names on wiki.
thanks

refs urls
Hi Miriam
when doing a url in a ref, don't forget to include the http:// bit of the url or the hotlink doesn't work. so it should be:

Not

that's it!

coding the category on a person's page
Hi Miriam
at the foot of a page with the name of a person as its title, in the category coding, you just need to add their name with surname first, then that page will arrange itself in the category under their surname. So on Kathryn Fuller's page (I've done that one so you can go into Edit and see what I've done) we have

if you can add this naming style to all your new pages, that'll be great.

Hi Miriam, see this page for the coding of your aluminium table http://www.powerbase.info/index.php/Powerbase:How_To_Edit_A_Page#Tables Gives two examples. --Melissa Jones 10:09, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Also, while i remember could you pls put footnotes outside of punctuation. Thanks!
alphabetizing categories
Hi Miriam, could you please make sure all the mining and profiles on individuals have their categories alphabetized, esp when you are creating new ones? Ie so in the actual categories they end up under their surnames, not forenames. I've done a couple already eg Gammell and Tata Thanks!--Melissa Jones 22:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
