Reinhard Gehlen was a German General who served as chief of Foreign Armies East (Russian Theater G-2) from early 1942 until the end of the World War Two. After the war, his intelligence network, the Gehlen Orgainsation, was retained by the US Army], and subsequently the CIA. it subsequently formed the core of Germany's postwar intelligence organisation, the BND, which he headed until 1968.[1]
