Dr. Chris R. Tame was the founder and Director of the Libertarian Alliance in the late 1970s. Prior to this, he worked for the National Association for Freedom and the Institute for Economic Affairs, and served as director of FOREST, the anti-anti-smoking lobby, in the 1980s. He died in 2006 after a short and unexpected illness.

- A graduate in American Studies from Hull University, he was later awarded a PhD from Middlesex University. A public affairs professional who has worked in a variety of fields, he is one of Britain's best known libertarian broadcasters and writers.
