Donald Hopson was the head of the Foreign Office's Information Research Department (IRD) from 1958 to 1964.[1]

A decorated wartime commando, Hopson joined the Foreign Service in 1945. He worked in IRD as an assistant to John Peck in the early 1950s. He became head of the department in 1958, replacing John Rennie.[2]
