Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA)was enacted by the US government in 1938 to limit the influence of foreign agents and propaganda on American public policy through agent registration and public disclosures. Agents were originally required to register with the Department of State in 1942, after FARA was strengthened, the registration duties were handed over to the Department of Justice.[1]
