- Semple met his friend and former Oxfam colleague, Chris Hudson, in Dublin during a visit in November. Hudson said his friend was closely interested in how the Ulster Volunteer Force, had been encouraged to end its campaign. Hudson had played a pivotal role in the Ulster Volunteer Force ceasefire and set up a secret link between the loyalists and the Irish government.[1]
