Clare Wijeratne is a former British diplomat and executive at Hakluyt & Company based in Singapore. She is now a global policy analyst at mining company BHP Billiton in Singapore.

Career

Wijeratne started her career as an associate consultant at Bain & Company from 2000 to 2002.

She then worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, first as a desk officer (October 2002 - April 2004), vice consul, British Consulate-General in Hong Kong (May 2004 - May 2007)[1], team leader (June 2007-May 2010) and finally as first secretary to the British High Commission in Delhi (June 2010 - September 2013).

She left the FCO to become an executive at Hakluyt & Company from October 2013 until June 2016. She joined BHP Billiton in January 2017. [2]

Education

  • MA Oriental Studies (Chinese), University of Cambridge 2000, including a year studying mandarin chinese and history at the Ocean University of China in 1999.
