Mark Lancaster is the British Conservative Party MP for Milton Keynes North. He was elected in 2005, re-elected in 2010 with a majority vote of 8,961[1] and increased this to 9,753 in 2015.[2]
In September 2012 Lancaster was appointed as a Lord Commissioner of Her Majesty's Treasury. [1]
In May 2015, in the post-election reshuffle, Lancaster was appointed parliamentary under-secretary to the Ministry of Defence, overseeing defence personnel, welfare and veterans. [3]

Background
Lancaster served in the army before entering into a career in politics, and was awarded his second long service medal, marking 22 years service by UK prime minister David Cameron in 2012. He continues to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Engineers. [4]
In 2001 Lancaster chose to contest the Nuneaton general election in 2001 but was unsuccessful. In 2005 however he was elected member for North East Milton Keynes. That same year he was also chosen to serve as a whip and shadow minister for international development. [1]
Following his re-election in the 2010 General Election, Lancaster was appointed as the parliamentary private secretary to the secretary of state for the Department for International Development. [4]
Visit to the United Arab Emirates
Lancaster was part of a 10-man parliamentary delegation to the United Arab Emirates in April 2012.
The trip lasted for five days and gave the delegation the opportunity to meet with senior representatives from government agencies and private sector companies in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The government of the United Arab Emirates paid £3,500 toward his travel and accommodation. [5]
