Jon Palmer worked for Serco from 2005 to 2012 in the UK and Australia on immigration and custodial projects. In 2013 he became a programme manager at the UK Cabinet Office.[1]

Serco
UK - Colnbrook IRC
Palmer was an assistant director at Serco in the UK from May 2005 to April 2012. He was "A member of the Senior Management team, responsible for the strategic and tactical delivery of Operations." He was "Serco Pulse Award winner for ‘Making an Exceptional Impact’" for his "contribution to implementing the Violent Reduction Strategy at Colnbrook IRC". He undertook prison service courses on commanding major incidents and working with intelligence. He qualified as a control and restraint instructor. Palmer worked on the "Development and implementation of Intelligence Management Unit in line with National Intelligence Model" as well as strengthening positive relations with Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command and other Specialist Crime Directorate." He is a trained investigator "in the development and completion of sensitive Investigations including the interview of witnesses, statement taking, and handling of evidence."
Australia
He was selected by Serco for a 6 month secondment to their immigration centres in Australia from July 2010 to February 2011. He was a senior manager in the Northern Territories, responsible for planning and co-ordinating daily routines at a centre. He led the "Senior Management Team reporting to the Centre Manager, coordinate and manage the Operational processes of the Centre".
Cabinet Office
In September 2013 Palmer became a programme manager at the UK Cabinet Office.
