The "Swoosh" branding, as seen above, has been Nike's signiture device since 1971. In June 1971, Carolyn Davidson, a graphic design student at Portland State University presented a number of design options to Phil Knight and other Blue Ribbon Sports - as the brand was then known as - executives, and they ultimatly selected the mark known globally as the Swoosh.
