Goicoechea was awarded the 2008 The Cato Institute's Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty, a prize amounting to US$500,000[1]. Goicoechea was instrumental in the Venezuelan "student opposition" to a 2007 constitutional reform involving clashes with police, smashing store windows... and:
