Mike Hancock was a Liberal Democrats member of parliament (MP) for Portsmouth South from 1984 to 2015.[1]
After resigning from the Liberal Democrats party, Hancock stood in the 2015 general election as an independent candidate, coming sixth with 716 votes.
The Conservative Party's Flick Drummond took Hancock's former seat.[2]
Controversy
In June 2014 Hancock was suspended from the party for making improper sexual advances towards a vulnerable woman constituent and in September 2014 Hancock resigned his membership of the party.[3] In March 2015 he announced he would be running in the 2015 general election as an independent candidate.[4]
