John Nicolson was appointed to the board of S&N in 2000 as chairman of greater Europe and USA. Nicholson is primarily responsible for the Scottish & Newcastle's business interests in Belgium, Portugal and Greece, as well as the American market which although the key importer of Newcastle Brown Ale is still regarded by S&N as a 'venture market'.
