Sir Peter Tapsell was a long serving Conservative Party member of Parliament (MP). He was the MP for Nottingham West from 1959 to 1964, Horncastle from 1966 to 1983, East Lindsey from 1983 to 1997 and Louth and Horncastle from 1997 to 2015.</ref>[1]
Tapsell announced he would be retiring at the 2015 general election.[2] He was replaced by Victoria Atkins, who held the seat for the party.[3]
