Difference between revisions of "Category:Terrorism research institutes"

Terrorism research institute are defined here as those research bodies that are based inside university or higer education establishments. This is to distinguish them in principle from [ terrorism think tanks], which exist in the private realm. There are obviously some organisations where this distinction is less than clear as in the case of institutes that were formerly associated with particular universities such as CSIS (with Georgetown University in Washington DC), FPRI (with the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia) and the Stanford Research Institute (with Stanford University), but which are now independent of them. We refer to these latter institutes as research institutes in the sense that they used to be associated with a university, even if they were not necessarily fully integrated into the university bureaucracy.
