Ben Coffman is currently deputy chief of staff for the leader of the opposition in the House of Lords. [1]
Background
Coffman was special adviser in the House of Lords from September 2006 till April 2010 working under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
Before this he was special adviser to the Government Whips Office.
Previously, Coffman worked as policy officer for the Labour Party for five years, where he was responsible for policy development, stakeholder management and political communication on home affairs and constitutional affairs matters, working closely with ministers. [1]
Early on in his career Coffman worked as a research assistant to MPs Ann Coffey and Helen Jackson, as well as parliamentary, research and press officer for the Prison Officers' Association. [1]
