Itamar Rabinovich is the founding President of the Israel Institute, a Distinguished Global Professor at New York University, and Non-Resident Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Saban Center at Brookings. He is Professor Emeritus of Middle Eastern History at Tel Aviv University and the University’s former President. Rabinovich is Deputy Chairman of the Institute for National Security Studies and sits on the Board of Directors.[1] Between 1992 and 1996, Rabinovich served as Israel’s ambassador to the United States and as chief negotiator with Syria while on leave from Tel Aviv University.[2]

Rabinovich holds a B.A. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an M.A. from Tel Aviv University, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.[2]
