Julian Wheatland is chief executive of Consensus Community, the non-property venture capital and investment arm of Consensus Business Group. The aim of Consensus Business Group is to invest in and develop innovative business models that will radically change traditional modes of business.

In August 2017 Wheatland was appointed chief operating officer of Emerdata, a British company that lists the two daughters of right-wing American hedgefund billionaire Robert Mercer - Rebekah Mercer and Jennifer Mercer - as fellow directors, alongside the former chief executive of disgraced data analytics firm Cambridge Analytica. Wheatland is a Chartered Engineer and spent his early career working for BICC Cables. Wheatland was educated at the University of Leeds where he read electrical and electronic engineering. He has an MBA from The Wharton School and he is a qualified Chartered Engineer.
