The American Emergency Committee for Zionist Affairs (AECZA) or the American Zionist Emeregency Council (AZEC) was established in 1939 to promote Zionist ideology among the largely non-Zionist US Jewish population.[1] As a part of its propaganda efforts, AZEC itself published and distributed Theodor Herzl's The Jewish State in 1946.[2] In 1949 it was renamed the American Zionist Council, and registered as a tax-exempt non-profit organization.[3] It was the parent organization of AIPAC.
