David Harris was Secretary General of the Aluminium Federation for 18 years, retiring in 2005 from the leadership, though he still works for the federation as a consultant.[1]
Aluminium and Alzheimer's disease
David Harris was key in the Aluminium Federation's responses to claims that aluminium in food and water was linked to Alzheimer's disease. In 1989 he authored a statement from the federation, denying the Lancet's claims, and asserting that aluminium is natural and never present in food or water in large enough quantities to be toxic.[2]
