Marcello Pera is a member of the Italian Senate and was formerly its President (2001-2006). He is currently Professor of Philosophy of Science at the University of Pisa. He is author of many books, some written in partnership with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now known as Pope Benedict XVI. [1] He is one of the Founder Members of the neoconservative Israel lobby group The Friends of Israel Initiative. [2]
