NITV is no longer broadcasting after running into financial difficulties in 2006. Some of the stations programs are now broadcast on Channel One TV. Atabay a former Iranian rockstar founded and managed the station which he founded in 2000. NITV a Farsi language channel [2], was credited by the U.S. press for encouraging street protests in Tehran after the 9/11 attacks in New York. The station is also credited with encouraging the student protests of 2003.
