Alec Mackie is a Chartered Accountant. He set up practice in partnership in 1973 and practised in several firms over twenty years. During his career he developed and pursued an interest in small scale corporate finance work and formed Barwell Plc in 1993 as a holding company for a number of companies.
The Venture Capital Investment activity of Barwell has been developed from this base, investing sums in the range of £75,000 to £250,000 and usually becoming involved in the financial control or monitoring of the investee company. In 2003 Barwell became a partner with the Scottish Co-Investment Fund.[1]
